Positive: The couple running the chateau could not be nicer, they were happy to answer any questions or help in any way possible. The service could not be faulted in any way. Congratulations to both of you. Our room was on the third floor it was spacious and a mix of modern and old furniture, the light was beautiful but the windows were in the roof so no views from a sitting or lying location. There are various animals in and around the chateau which added to its charm, from domestic dogs chickens donkeys horses cats to exotic parrots. All quiet well behaved and you have to seek them out , they are not intrusive nor noisey. The pool area was perfect a 30 second walk at the back of the chateau garden with both sun and shade in the morning and evening, we were not there during the day. With a view out over the fields and the chateau garden. This is not advertised but should be. !!! You can access and walk the canal du Robine from the back of the chateau and walk into Narbonne in less than an hour at a leisurely pace.. apart from the initial walk to the canal which is primarily a dirt road for about 5 to 10 mins once you access the canal it is paved the whole way into the town. It was a glorious walk 30 mins on the canal with country views then 15 to 30 mins along the canal in the town to "les halls market. " at the top end of the town. An uber or bolt will charge to collect and bring you into town for around 20 euro, one way town to the chateau approx 8 euro. Please be careful most ubers/bolts taxi's arrive at the back gate of the chateau which is not open to guests , you must message your driver when you book to come to the front entrance. Overall the experience was wonderful. Thank you again.
Negative: Rooms on the higher floors should have a kettle or mini fridge or both. Breakfast is available but no evening food. There is no bar or restaurant in the chateau, which is clearly advised on booking so this is your own responsibility. It would have been nice to bring back a bottle of white wine to keep chilled in a fridge for when you return to your room in the evening. The breakfast area is under utilised it is a beautiful room and could be advertised as a meeting area for guests returning early in the evening from say 6pm to 9pm to bring their own drinks converse and share travel tips for the area. It could also but I realise this would extend the already long working day of the staff and owners, offer a charcuterie board. Or simular for the evening. We found that we were staying later in town than we wished to, to eat an evening snack or meal. one or 2 days to pre book a cold evening snack like you can book breakfast , would be an excellent option.
