With over 26 miles of Long Beach Peninsula, there is a lot to explore. If you drive north to Ocean Park, there are bookstores, restaurants and gift stores, and more beaches to explore. Stop into Jack’s Country Store to see the historic yet current meeting place. In Nahcotta, you can buy fresh oysters and enjoy the wonderful views of Willapa Bay. At the northern tip of the Peninsula is Ledbetter Point State Park -- it’s a wonderful place for hiking to the beach or to the bay.
Downtown Long Beach is about 7 miles to the south. It is a hub of activity year-round, but especially during the summer months, with the International Kite Festival, Rod Run, and of course, fireworks on Independence Day and New Year’s Eve. There are great shops, a variety of restaurants, and lots of things for the kids to do, including miniature golf, the arcade, and go-cart rides too.
Ilwaco, Cape Disappointment, and the North Head lighthouse are south of Long Beach. There are art galleries at the Port of Ilwaco, and during the summer months, there’s Saturday Market, too, with a variety of local arts and crafts, foods, flowers, and plants for sale. You can even see pirates at times. The Port also features some fine restaurants with local seafood offerings created by our great chefs.
