Summary: The house was beautiful and located right in the heart of the town of Philipi. We were able to visit 3 state parks within 30 min drive as well as walk to dinner, ive cream and live music in town. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to us, the house has active water/roof damage in the front bedroom. I believe we should have been made aware of this prior, so we could find another location for our weekend getaway. We travelled with 3 young children, 2 of which woke up every morning with nasal congestion, watery eyes and coughing. The wall where the water damage had occurred had visible mold and damage to the infrastructure. The entire house also smelled mildewy/moldy due to this issue. Luckily, we spent most of our long weekend outside on the back patio, in the backyard and travelling to nearby parks. Once home, my families symptoms resolved. I would rent again once the property has been properly removated and cleaned. I notified the property owner the minute we entered the property. She was fully aware of the damage. I was not offered a resolution nor money back given my families respiratory inconvenience.
