Big Canoe a 8,000-acre wildlife, gated community, in the hardwood forest at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, just north of Atlanta. We have seven mountains, three lakes, three championship golf courses, a state-of-the-art fitness/wellness center, ten tennis courts, four hard and four soft, two indoor racquet courts, and two new pickle ball courts. We have two outdoor swimming pools open Memorial Day - July 31st ( weekends only through Labor Day), one indoor pool available when classes are not scheduled, a beach, swimming lake, water slide, lake slides, canoes, and paddle boats. Petit Lake is stocked with trout and has a Marina that offers rental fishing poles, pontoon boats, jon-boats, kayaks and canoes. Big Canoe has over twenty-four miles of maintained hiking trails in addition to a Jeep Trail where you'll see plenty of wild life including deer, black bear, bald eagles, osprey, fox, raccoon, opossum and turkey. As a Guest you will have access to all of the Big Canoe amenities when you pay-to-play directly to each amenity.
The Clubhouse at Lake Sconti offers both casual and fine dining with lunch and dinner menus, a fully stocked bar in the pub and take-out service.
Big Canoe is an official Wildlife Sanctuary and as such each Guest is to respect local wildlife. Guests should never leave food items or trash in their cars, porches or outdoors. If needed there are dumpsters close to the North Gate in addition to the Trash Cottage by the Condo.
Off-site there is plenty to do in the North Georgia Mountains. Gibbs Gardens, Amicalola Falls, and the Tate House are all about a 15-minute drive. The North Georgia Premium Outlets in Dawsonville with 140 stores is a short 30-minute drive.
The Little "COUPLES" Retreat At Big Canoe is also convenient to Ellijay with apple festivals, wineries, and local antiques.
