Modern Bird's Nest is a detached guest house, recently featured in Cola Daily, with a private patio with picnic table in our backyard that's the perfect getaway to explore downtown Columbia! It has an attached covered carport for parking with a zero entry access. It is a newly renovated space with nest inspired decor that we had a lot of fun creating for your enjoyment! It's an open concept studio style loft space that has an upstairs queen bed with a lovely tree branch view out of the large window! Our hope is that you feel like you are away in a luxury treehouse, but actually you're just minutes to the heart of downtown Columbia!

Downstairs there is a twin sized day bed with a trundle that doubles as your couch, a wingback chair, electric fireplace, a kitchenette, and a hammock chair to swing, relax and recharge! There's a dining area with a bird nest themed seating for two and there's a brand new modern bathroom with updated lighting, mirror, and stand up shower with complimentary Trader Joe's shampoo, conditioner and body wash! In the living room there is also an HD TV with Roku set to guest mode for log-in to your own streaming services. We do not have cable TV in the nest.
The kitchenette has everything you need from a Keurig with complimentary coffee and tea, a mini fridge with separate freezer/fridge compartments, a double burner hot plate and pots/pans if you decide to cook in, and plenty of cups, plates, and utensils! If you need anything else to cook meals, please let us know! We have a crock pot, blender, bbq utensils, toaster, hot water kettle and other utensils available upon request. Due to space, we don't keep these in the bnb, but they are available. Just let us know!
There's an outdoor private patio space behind the Bird's Nest with string lights for your enjoyment! Under the carport, we have a shared gas grill and/or a charcoal grill for you to use (bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid).
We want the Modern Bird's Nest to be a family friendly space and have a Pac N’ Play with a sheet, baby gates for the stairs, toys, games and books, available upon request.
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets of any kind because the owner's have a super sweet & friendly dog that's sometimes out in the backyard! No parties or events allowed. We are a STRICT NO smoking. Only those quoted on the stay have permission to be on the property. If you have any extra guests that want to visit you on our property, please just ask. Since this is someone's primary residence, we just like to know who's around! Depending on the situation, extra guest fees may apply.
We love the outdoors (especially birds and trees) and you may see our family in the shared section of the backyard! We also recently got a sweet dog named Luna, so please let us know if you need us to pull her inside our house for any reason. We enjoy it when our guests want to say hi and we can get to know you a little bit, but respect your need for R&R, too! If you have any needs, don't hesitate to let us know!
You'll have access to the guest house, shared backyard, and private patio. There is a double gate that allows you to pull into the backyard to park in the carport overnight. We ask that you keep the gate closed at all times and park on the street during the day! Thank you!
We live in the front house and can be available during your stay, but we also have Hart and Vanessa, our property managers available to help as well.

There is one exterior security camera that is actively monitoring and recording the carport for security purposes and parking surveillance. You will receive a unique code prior to check in for the front door's smart lock. Please keep the gate to the backyard closed after you pull in/out for safety reason for our child/dog. By booking this property, you agree you will not hold the owner or property management company liable for any accidents, bodily injury, or death that may occur during your stay.
In addition to federal/state/local laws, and any laws enforced by your booking app, please be mindful and respectful of the following house rules:
- At the time of booking the person who made the booking must provide a copy of their ID to ensure they are the same person staying. We also require a list of all other guests’ names (first and last) to be provided prior to check-in.
- NO Smoking in or on the property! This is a strictly no-smoking property. If you smoke we will charge you an additional cleaning fee of at least $500.
- No parties / large gatherings / loud noise
- No unapproved guests. Only the guests quoted on the stay are permitted onto the property. If you have any unapproved guests, we will charge a fee of $100/unapproved guest, and require the extra guests to vacate the premises immediately.
- No pets/animals. If you bring a pet/animal onto the property we will charge a fee of $500 per pet/animal for additional cleaning. We will also require the pet/animal to be immediately removed.
- Unless otherwise agreed upon, you can not check-in earlier than the noted check-in time and day, or check-out later than the noted check-out time and day. If you attempt to check-in earlier or stay past your check-out time without our permission, there will be an additional fee of $100/hr. We may also call the police for trespassing.
- If you break/damage something, or discover something broken/damaged, please let us know
- Do not move furniture / appliances / etc.
- Do not unplug important electronics (i.e. appliances, internet, etc)
- Do not unplug, block, or tamper with exterior surveillance cameras
- Nothing but toilet paper in the toilets
If you break any of these rules we may charge additional fees and we reserve the right to terminate your stay without any refunds.
