Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The host was wonderful and very helpful. We got a comprehensive introduction to the property and all the facilities. Couldn't have been better. I even woke up every morning to little woodpecker in the trees. The 2nd we have seen in our life. The local garden centre has an excellent cafe with some of the best homemade food and cakes we found. It was very enjoyable just to sit and watch the birds as the weather was not very favourable to us it was the longest spell of continued rain and cloud for many years in that area. It was very easy to get out to Durham and see the cathedral. Some nice walks around, too, but it was far muddy on this stay.

Negative: Definitely take a torch. You're going to need it. It's very, very dark outside, and the lodge has subdued lighting throughout.

Summary: It was a very wet but enjoyable stay.
