Riverside Cottage definitely has something for everyone! Central forced air heat for cozying up in autumn & winter. Whether you want to relax down at the river and fish, or wade into the water, or sunbathe. Watch the leaves change to breathtaking colors in the fall, and the gentle, large snowflakes fluttering down to the ground, creating a fun filled winter landscape. In the evening have a home-cooked meal and play games with the family; or go a mile or so to downtown Hop's for a craft brew & yak burger. It really is the best burger I've ever had! Walk down to the river at night and stargaze while listening to the water ripple. Then, wake up in the morning to the birds singing, while you sit on the porch to enjoy a hot cup of coffee with hazelnut creamer.
Riverside Cottage is just outside city limits and within walking distance of Kalispell dine-in restaurants & popular attractions. Grocery stores via Insta-Cart, Door Dash, Grub Hub, Uber Eats, and numerous other services will deliver to the house.
The kitchen is well stocked, including spices, condiments, & a coffee bar with various flavored creamer, and sweeteners.
There is a large fenced yard, with a slide & swings for the kids to play, or take them to the river for some fishing. The lilacs smell wonderful when in bloom. When the winter wonderland season is here, there are so many options: dog sledding, downhill skiing, ski biking, cross, country skiing, snow mobiling / machining, tobogganing, snowshoeing.
The Turkish towels are plush and fluffy, and all our white linens are bleached.
Riverside Cottage is right in the middle of the valley with Whitefish Mountain to the north and Blacktail Ski Resort to the south; 20-30 minute drive each way. With breathtaking colors of fall leaves and winter’s gentle, large snowflakes fluttering down to the ground, Mother Nature creates a fun filled landscape! For summer fun floating / tubing is best on the Flathead River, which is a 10 - 15 minute drive from the cottage. We can give you some ideas & directions.
The Stillwater River is right out your front door. The river is known for its pike fishing, with fish in the twenty-to-thirty pound range not uncommon; whitefish, cutthroat trout, and brook trout are also found in the river.
The Stillwater River (in Northwest Montana, not to be confused with the Stillwater River in Southern Montana) flows for eighty miles from its origin at the small Russky Creek down to its end at the confluence of the Flathead River just south of Kalispell. The river flows through pretty country, primarily a mix of timber, fields and agricultural land. For most of it’s journey, the river meanders fairly slowly through the Flathead Valley.
The river is known for its pike fishing, with fish in the twenty-to-thirty pound range not uncommon. Catching these fish involves some stout gear. When fly fishing for these monsters, use either streamers on a sink tip line or large spoons (spin fishing), throwing them into the many deep pools that are found along the river, focusing on those that are situated in backwaters or where the current is slow. Whitefish, cutthroat trout and brook trout are also found in the Stillwater River.
Given the current's gentle flow, a canoe, inflatable canoe, or inflatable kayak is the best vessel for floating the Stillwater River. Tube floating is best on the Flathead River.
Due to issues that have begun since COVID-19, & the boom in our housing economy, it is extremely difficult to get a handyman to take on any small jobs. That being said, the window cranks in the downstairs bedrooms are not functioning & will not open, except for one. We are currently on the waiting list with a local contractor.
