The village of Talkin sits above the Natural Beauty spot of Talkin Tarn close to Brampton and Carlisle. The village has a renowned pub serving excellent bar meals and local ales. Talkin Tarn is a short walk where woodland walks around the tarn followed by a light meal in the boathouse café can be enjoyed. Hadrian's Wall is close by for those who want to experience a bygone era, Carlisle (a 15 minute drive) is also home to a Castle and Cathedral both worth exploring. The market town of Brampton is a 5 minute drive away with shops, pubs and restaurants, you will also pass Brampton Golf Club on the way. The Lake District is less than an hours drive as is Newcastle if you want to explore the Metro centre or visit the theatre.
Rycroft is furnished with comfort and relaxation in mind, the perfect base to return to after a days adventure in the beautiful surrounding country side. The Blacksmiths Arms is a short walk for the days you don't want to cook or head into Brampton or Carlisle. With 2 double bedrooms the cottage is perfect for 2 couples holidaying together or a small family looking for a base to enjoy a relaxing holiday but close to amenities.

The dining/kitchen is fully equipped with electric double oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. Cloakroom with hand basin and WC.

Summary: A very comfortable and well appointed cottage in a quiet peaceful village. Everything we needed was provided and Peter was very helpful. Hadrian's Wall only 30 mins and Lake District less than an hour, plus great walks in the local area around Geltsdale. Shame that the local pub wasn't dog friendly, but the Duke of Cumberland, just over a mile away, was great and very welcoming to us and our dog. Very clean, very comfortable and with all the mod-cons provided. A great little escape from it all. My wife and our dog had a really enjoyable week, thank you.
