Sandpiper has been created from the careful conversion of a very grandly designed 19th century stone-built farm steading with a fascinating historical connection. Burnfoot, named due to its location at the confluence of two tributaries of the River Coquet, was created by the great Victorian inventor industrialist, Lord Armstrong, and was part of his world-renowned Cragside Estate, now owned by the National Trust.
The cottage is perfectly located to explore the local landscape (being on the edge of Europe's largest designated Dark Sky), as well as being a base to see Northumberland's attractions further a field (Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses, Amble, Hadrian's wall).
