Talbot Studio is a generous cottage for a couple. Entrance is from the terraced garden into the kitchen/diner, this fully fitted oak kitchen includes dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer. Beyond this is a modern bathroom with a power shower over the bath and a modern white suite.
Up the spiral staircase is a large lounge with spectacular views down to the River Lowther and the hills in the east. Summary: Everything that you need for a comfortable stay. Perfect outlook for a peaceful holiday. The only reason we didn't give a 5* is that it wasn't obvious from the photographs that the spiral staircase is very narrow. The bathroom and toilet are downstairs and the living and sleeping area upstairs and it was awkward to negotiate in the middle of the night. It would also be an problem if you have mobility issues. It is dog friendly but not welcoming as dogs are not allowed upstairs though I doubt any dog could negotiate the spiral staircase. This meant that in the evening our dogs were not with us. The cleaning instructions were that we must not leave any sign that dogs had been on the premises and that cleaning wasn't paid for? A slightly unusual reference on the instructions upon arrival. However, that being said, we would stay again due to the beautiful and peaceful location.
