Summary: The Old Corner Shop was a good size and accommodated the 4 us easily. The kitchen was a great size with good facilities essential for staying over Christmas ! However, the literature provided before our holiday stated to park in the Community Centre, we were confronted by a very unfriendly lady on our arrival who told us not to park there and pointed to a space to the side of the property where we had to park , the literature needs to change to prevent upsetting the locals ! I appreciate this is an old building but there were very clears signs of significant rising damp and a couple of damp traps was never going to be enough it needs a proper dehumidifier to help with this. The bathroom was small with no proper shower, although there was an attachment over the bath, there is no shower curtain consequently the bathroom gets sprayed with water every time you use it! The radiator in the bathroom could not be left on due to the leak which flooded the floor , we found a tray that fitted underneath the tap to catch the water which helped, we did note that this was mentioned in the visitor book 3 years ago !! In the utility/hallway/landing area all the light bulbs had gone and there were no replacements that fitted hence at night we were having to use torches - which we had to purchase batteries for ! One of our party was my Mother in Law who is 84 and not terribly mobile. Having a bedroom downstairs was great but due to the age of the property the floors were very uneven this combined with the bathroom issues which made if virtually unusable for her meant her stay was not quite as comfortable. I feel it should be mentioned in the description that this property is not suitable for elderly people. The Old Corner Shop is a lovely property and could be really special if a little time and money were spent on it. The welcome gifts were a nice touch and appreciated particulary the Christmas Tree which was a really nice thought.
