Summary: My stay was from 1 Dec 2018 to 8 Dec 2018. This beautiful apartment is located above the garage. I gave Aude my estimated time of arrival and she was there to meet me when I called her on the phone upon my arrival. Access to the property is through a remote controlled driveway gate for which you'll be given a remote during your stay. There are two doors to access the apartment, one from the driveway and one from inside the garage. Ground level entry is sort of a mudroom for hanging jackets and storing wet gear/shoes. There's a flight of steps up to the 1st floor which contains a fully equipped kitchen, full bathroom, and living/dining room. The exposed ceiling beams are probably 75 inches above the floor, so if you're over 6'3" tall, you'll need to be mindful of the headroom limits. I'm 6'2", so it was perfect for me. Thanks to Aude and her family for having a decorated Christmas tree in the apartment. There are two bedrooms and a toilet on the 2nd floor. The 2nd floor has angled/sloped ceilings and there are structural posts and beams so you have to mind your head. I had some hand sanitizer to use on the 2nd floor since there isn't a wash basin there. Although parking was available in the driveway, I parked on the street because there were available places. I used the car to make day trips north, west, and south along the Bas-Rhin Alsace Wine Route, Obernai was my favorite village. I made several day trips into Strasbourg using the tram at Poteries station. I walked back and forth to Poteries, about a mile away from the apartment. There's a park and ride lot at Poteries too, but you'll have to pay a few Euros to park. There are probably bus options that require less walking, but I didn't explore those options. There's a Carrefour grocery store within walking distance. Christmas Markets were taking place in Strasbourg during my visit. Cathedral, churches, Petite France quarter, Covered Bridges, Vauban Dam; there's a lot to see and do. If your French speaking is limited, Aude's English is limited too, but Aude's daughters speak and understand English beautifully. So, no worries on communication. Absolutely loved my stay at the Eckbolsheim apartment. Thanks Aude and family.
