Villa Tosca is a stately mansion built during the 1940\'s by a wealthy family from Milan. It is situated high on a hill overlooking the charming town of Baveno and the beautiful Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Gulf. Surrounded by almost five acres (20,000 sqm) of park-like grounds and pine trees, the villa is a refuge of peace and tranquility. The home was the subject of an ambitious renovation project, which was completed in the summer of 2014. Particular care was given to preserve its historical value and the outlines of the original structure, while at the same time adding comfort and charm through refined details and exquisite furnishings. Consisting of three floors, and sleeping up to 13 guests, the resulting style is elegant and refined, with embellishments of soft colors that, together with the wide big windows, make the spaces very bright and approachable.
The current owners are proud to open their home to guests and have them share in their passion that is Villa Tosca. It is their hope that those who stay here will not only experience a pleasing holiday at Lake Maggiore but that they will leave pampered and refreshed.
The Villa is very easy to find: located less than 60 km from the International Airport of Milano Malpensa, it is easily reachable by highway or by train from the Milano Centrale station in about one hour. It is also located less than five km from Stresa and a few km from Switzerland, and in particular, from the elegant town of Ascona.
Villa Tosca consists of three floors and has the typical structure of the mansions from the 40\'s. What makes it unique are the carefully renovated big windows that, dominating all the rooms, allow you to enjoy breathtaking views of the lake. The furnishings are elegant and refined, with notes of vintage. All the rooms feature oil-paintings and watercolors made by a local artist.
THE BEDROOMS:
The sleeping area is located on the upper floor of the villa, which is accessible by a majestic wooden staircase, completely restored and enhanced. The floors are solid oak wood, and the rooms are equipped with modern heating and air conditioning. There are five bedrooms, all furnished keeping high standards of quality and comfort: every room is equipped with elegant curtains, built-in wardrobe, refined upholstered bed, Satellite TV, and ensuite bathroom with shower, bidet, and luxurious finishings.
Magnolia Room - the historical master bedroom. It features two big windows with enchanting views of the lake and the pool. The prevalent color is a calming, soft pink and its bathroom is made of travertine marble.
Ninfea Room - the only bedroom with a balcony that overlooks the pool and it has a view of the lake. The prevalent color is turquoise green, its bathroom is made of white Carrara marble. It is accessible by a small entrance with a built-in wardrobe and it is equipped with big TV screen on the wall in front of the bed.
Peonia Room - is the most luxurious room of the entire villa, but does not have a view over the lake as it is oriented towards the park. It is furnished with an elegant poster-bed entirely covered with silk. The bathroom is made of dark grey marble and the prevalent color is dove-grey.
Gardenia Room - this bedroom is considered as the suite of the villa. It is the widest room, with two twin beds and a small living room with an elegant sofa that, if needed, becomes a third bed. The suite overlooks the lake, has two big windows and its predominant color is powder-blue. The bathroom is covered with royal marble.
Camelia Room - this is the smallest room, with twin beds and a beautiful view over the park. The characterizing color is green, while the bathroom is made of absolute white marble.
THE LIVING AREA:
The living area encompasses the ground floor and it is entirely tiled in polished Roman travertine. The heart of this floor is the big hall, facing its own private garden, which is furnished with an outside living room covered by an elegant white voile, and facing a wide veranda with drapes and a view of the lake. Guests can relax on the white leather Chesterfield sofas that surround the Alps-green marble fireplace, while enjoying one of the many liquors that are contained inside an elegant black leather vintage cocktail cabinet. Or, they can engage in a chess game over the old card table, or maybe recline to watch some TV in the adjacent living room. The hall is embellished with an old, functioning Austrian grand piano. Accessed from the hall is the professional-grade, fully-equipped kitchen. Down the corridor is an elegant ante-room and then a small bathroom with shower. The final room is a family room where guests can relax with a TV and sofa, that, if necessary, becomes the sixth bedroom with double bed. This room overlooks the outdoor arbor with transparent glass roof, equipped with table, chairs and barbeque grill. The arbor is linked to a small balcony belonging to the dining room, also accessible from the entrance hall. It overlooks the lake and is furnished with precious cherry wood finishes, an elegant table, and chandeliers in Murano glass.
SPA AND WELLNESS:
The wellness area occupies the entire basement floor. It is accessible directly from the garden, through four big French windows, or from the travertine stairwell descending from the living area, embellished by numerous watercolors depicting glimpses of Lake Maggiore\'s landscapes. Here, guests can relax inside the Jacuzzi or the Turkish bath, workout with professional gym equipment, or rest on comfortable \"relaxation\" beds while sipping herbal tea prepared in the herbal tea corner. Upon request it is possible to book massages of any kind. The fitness area is equipped with its own private bathroom with shower. Also available to guests is the laundry room, equipped with washing machine, dryer and electric iron.
Just next to the wellness area is a multi-functioning space featuring walls of natural stone, TV, several sofas, armchairs, an impressive refectory table (previously belonging to the former owners of the villa), views of the lake, and direct access out to the garden through French doors.
GARDEN AND POOL AREA:
The park is laid out over several levels that alternate from the entrance gate up to the pine forest. From the gate is a wide, terraced garage followed by a courtyard paved with stone. The swimming pool is purposely situated on the ground floor level, which allows guests to enjoy views of the lake while swimming. The lawn around the pool is furnished with elegant iron deck chairs, sunshades, a shower, and an old table made of stone, perfect for enjoying libations under the shade of the trees.
