Summary: You get just what you pay for. The room was very nice, aside from a fair few places where it was falling apart, and the shower was a bit dirty. The staff were overall helpful and answered my questions, however, there was a constant pressure to pay in cash and not with a card, which was very annoying and wasn't a preference I was made aware of prior to my stay. Additionally I was offered a breakfast for an added charge, but for some reason this was a preperscribed meal, and I could not choose a different breakfast from the total restaurant menu for some reason, and I was charged above average prices for bottled water. It makes sense for the hotel to cut costs on these things, but for the price of the room I think I would have been happy to pay an extra 10 Euro for free water. I would definitely consider Hotel GoldenGate again, thanks to its price point, but there are things that the owner and staff could do to make a stay far more comfortable, with minimal effort and cost.
